Background
Creative Recipes Trading LLC set out to introduce a distinct American fast casual dining concept built around authentic smoked meats. Their vision was to create a true smokehouse experience that brings original American smoking techniques to the region using high quality cuts and traditional wood-smoking methods. The goal was to fill a clear gap in the market by offering flavourful, slow-cooked meat at an accessible price point and create an experience that brought out the spirit of authenticity and originality.
Concept Note
The name Oak Smokehouse was chosen to reflect the brand’s core philosophy- one of integrity, tradition and unembellished craft. That same philosophy guided the spatial experience. The design was imagined as an extension of the cooking method itself: textured, earthy and quietly confident.
The space embraces a rustic aesthetic, as a deliberate nod to the origins of slow smoking. Surfaces are raw and honest, tones are warm and the presence of oak wood becomes a prominent feature in the space, reinforcing both narrative and sensory depth. Middle Eastern geometric patterns subtly reference local context, creating a visual blend between the American technique and its Saudi reinterpretation.
From the moment you enter, the space engages the senses. The rich aroma of smoked meat leads the way. An open kitchen offers transparency without spectacle, inviting diners into the rhythm of preparation. Neon signage and subtle retro cues nod to classic American barbecue joints, while keeping the mood contemporary and intimate.
Every detail from the raw textures to the open kitchen- serves one purpose: to make the experience of eating smoked meat feel as authentic and carefully built as the process itself. It brings the original smokehouse spirit to life
Result
The culmination of these efforts led to OAK Smokehouse being honoured as the Best North American Restaurant in Riyadh at the Time Out Riyadh Restaurant Awards 2022, solidifying its standing as a beacon of culinary excellence in the local dining scene.
